MILWAUKEE ? Marquette jumped on the scoreboard first, but a barrage of goals by Wisconsin's Jed Hohlbein gave the Badgers an insurmountable lead on the way to a 5-3 victory. The loss came in the final home contest for Marquette seniors Chris Lee, Danny Mullin and Kellan Walsh. With the loss, Marquette falls to 5-11-1. Wisconsin improves to 9-8-1.
Matt Blouin scored first to put Marquette up, 1-0. His unassisted goal came in the 23rd minute. He received a pass in the middle of the penalty area from Blair Kohlmeyer and fired it on net. The shot hit the crossbar and came right back to Blouin's right foot as he put away the first strike.
Hohlbein scored three of the next four goals, two of which were assisted by Nick Van Sicklen. In between Hohlbein's second and third goals, Wisconsin scored on a Marquette own goal. Marquette keeper Andy Kroll deflected a corner kick entry off a Golden Eagle defender, which bounced back toward the net.
Hohlbein scored his final goal 12 seconds in the second half, taking a feed from William Bagayorko immediately after kick off and put the Badgers up 4-1. Van Sicklen added a goal in the 54th mintue for the final Wisconsin tally.
Marquette put up a furious comeback, scoring in the 54th minute. Kohlmeyer capitalized on a Blouin assist to cut the deficit to three. In the 68th minute, Kohlmeyer's set piece found Alex Biel for Marquette's final score.
