The duo took out a seeded pair for the second time this weekend when they defeated two seeded Justin Hoevler and Adam Schaechterle of Northwestern, 8-5, in front of the home court crowd at Helfear Tennis Stadium.
?They played well and from the start to the finish,? coach Steve Rodecap said.
Delmege and Van Lieshout were down by as many as two sets in the pro-set match with the score 4-2. They then won three in a row to lead 5-4. After giving up the next set, they won the remaining three.
?They didn?t hang their heads when they were down a break,? Rodecap said. ?They are comfortable playing with each other and they do well with each other.?
Rodecap said it was important for the duo to play consistently and not fall too far behind in the fast paced pro-set competition.
?There isn?t a lot of time to catch up,? he said. ?We knew we would get some chances if we were able to make some returns.?
The tandem now faces three seeded Adrian Debreyne and Avery Ticer of Minnesota at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Helfaer in the semifinal round.
