Men' Tennis Falls to Iowa, 1-6

After failing to take the doubles point, the Golden Eagles headed into doubles play down a point.
?They have a fast surface,? assistant coach Armando Espinosa said. ?They certainly had the advantage from that point. I don?t think we were prepared. There were certain spots that we fought but overall we didn?t play well.?
Hugo Leenders was the only Marquette player to win his singles match. Meeting for the third time against Chaitu Malempati, Leenders came back after dropping the first set, 3-6, to win the second, 6-3. He came out on top of the third set tie-breaker, 15-13.
The second match of this weekend?s trip against Illinois State tomorrow. Action in Normal, Ill. gets underway at 1 p.m.
