Women Take Third, Men Fourth at Big Blue Classic

The Marquette women?s track and field team took third while the men took fourth at last weekend?s Big Blue Classic at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill.
The Marquette women again dominated the distance events as Freshman Heidi Lindeman won the 5,000m with a time of 17:31.68. Sophomore sisters Susanna and Theresa Emond finished first and second in the 10,000m with times of 36:33.04 and 37:06.08, respectively.
Freshman Jeremy Williams won the men?s 5,000m with a time of 15:02.01. Sophomore David Henderson was fourth in the race.
Marquette?s women also showed strength in the 800m as senior Jamie Haro took first with a time of 2:15.24 and sophomore Micheala Courtney 2: 17.41.
The Golden Eagles performed well in the field as junior Charles Mashozhera took first in the Triple Jump with a jump of 49-7 3/4, just under a foot from his school record holding jump.
Junior Emily Leklem took first in the Shot Put with a throw of 45-4 1/2; it was the second straight meet that Leklem took first place in the Shot Put at a competition. Junior Andy Ballard took second in men?s competition with a throw of 49-11 1/4.
The Golden Eagles will send athletes to both the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. and the Gatorade Relays in Miami over the Easter weekend.
