Marquette started off the match failing to take the doubles point by losing at all three spots.
?I felt like we had a legitimate shot at winning the doubles point,? coach Steve Rodecap said. ?We just didn?t close it out.?
The Golden Eagles then lost the singles matches at nos. 1-5.
Ricky Servoss was the only Marquette play to come away with a win over Depaul, he defeated Will Wang, 7-5, 6-2, at the no. 6 singles spot. Servoss improves his dual-match record to 6-7.
Rodecap stressed the need for the Golden Eagles to be competitive at every spot.
?In singles, we weren?t competitive at nos. 2, 3 and 4,? Rodecap said. ?For us to compete against DePaul, we?ve got to be competitive at all matches.?
Marquette lost to the Blue Demons earlier in the season when the two teams met up at the Conference USA Shootout in Fort Worth, Texas. The final score of that match was 3-4.
Marquette takes on conference foe St. Louis Friday at 2 p.m. at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
