James Named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week

MU point guard honored by the league
MILWAUKEE ? Just one week into its new conference arrangement, a member of the Marquette men's basketball team received the team's first accolade from the BIG EAST Conference. Guard Dominic James was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week by the league office.
James, a freshman from Richmond, Ind., began his collegiate career with a 16 point, nine assist, six rebound effort against Rice in the first round of the Pepsi Blue & Gold Classic. He followed that up with 15 points and seven rebounds against Winthrop in the championship game of the classic. For the week, James averaged a team-leading 15.5 points and 8.0 assists to go along with 4.0 rebounds. He earned a spot on the All-Tournament team as a result.
The Golden Eagles (1-1) take on Eastern Washington in the first round of the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage, Alaska on Wednesday, November 23 at 9:45 p.m. AST (12:45 a.m. Thursday morning Milwaukee time).
