December 27, 2005 - The Marquette men?s basketball team returns from Christmas break to host Lewis University on Wednesday, December 28, at 7 p.m. at Bradley Center. It is the final non-conference tune-up for the Golden Eagles before opening BIG EAST Conference play on Tuesday, January 3, when it hosts no. 2 Connecticut.
Following next Tuesday?s showdown with the nationally ranked Huskies, MU (9-3) will host Cincinnati on Saturday, January 7, at 11 a.m.
Both of the Golden Eagles games next week will be broadcast locally on WMLW, Ch. 41.
Led by its trio of freshman guards ? Dominic James, Wesley Matthews and Jerel McNeal ? the Golden Eagles earned double-digit victories over Oakland and Delaware State last week, improving their record to 41-2 against non-conference opponents since 2001.
Lewis is led by second-year head coach Kyle Green, an assistant at Marquette under Tom Crean during the 2003-04 season. He is the fourth Crean assistant, joining Tim Buckley (Ball State), Darrin Horn (W. Kentucky) and Tod Kowalczyk (UW-Green Bay), to be named a head coach.
