The Golden Eagles (8-7, 0-2, C-USA) are coming off of a two-win day on Sunday against Wright State (6-1 win) and Western Illinois (7-0 win) in the double header at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
Last year, Marquette lost a 5-2 decision to the Badgers (3-7, 0-4, Big Ten). Senior Troy Delmege was the only current player to win his match on March 3, 2004. He defeated Alex Conti in three sets in the No. 4 match.
?I think it is always different playing an in state rival,? coach Steve Rodecap said. ?It is a match that our guys always look forward to.?
Freshman Brett Binkley is leading the Golden Eagle netters in wins with his 10-5 dual-match record, including his current four game win streak. Junior Ian Kawas and freshman Pete Van Lieshout each boast eight wins and freshman Greg Sirotek owns a 7-8 record.
?I feel like there has been some spots that we have been really good in this year and spots that we have been a bit up and down in, but on a whole, we continue to move forward,? Rodecap said.
After playing in Madison, Marquette heads to the Boise State Invitational in Boise, Idaho from March 23-25. A three-day trip to Florida follows, from April 1-3, including a stop at conference rival USF on April 2.
