Matt Blouin finished the match with a goal and an assist to lead the Golden Eagles. He scored the eventual game-winner at 12:28 before assisting the final score of the afternoon by Duncan Silvert-Noftle at 66:27. In between those two goals, Blair Kohlmeyer scored off an assist by Mike Carlson.
"We played well and we deserved it," head coach Steve Adlard said. "We were efficient and had enough skills to get the result. At 1-0, it's always a bit iffy. When it went two, I thought it was over. When it went three. It was a clinic."
DePaul was playing on a new surface and it was the men's team's first time on a synthetic turf in quite some time.
"We adapted well to astroturf," Adlard added. "I'm happy with the result."
Marquette opens up the regular season taking on Ohio State on Friday, Sept. 2 in Columbus, Ohio. Marquette also plays Penn State on Sunday, Sept. 4 as part of the tournament.
"We're healthy and played well today," Adlard added. "Next week is going to be very tough for us."
