Men's Soccer Picked Sixth in Preseason Poll

MILWAUKEE ? The Marquette men's soccer team was picked to finish sixth in the Blue Division of the BIG EAST, the league office announced.
Connecticut was picked to win the division, followed by Notre Dame, Seton Hall, Georgetown and West Virginia. Behind Marquette is Pittsburgh and Providence.
St. John's, an NCAA quarterfinalist a year ago, was picked to win the Red Division. Following the Red Storm are Rutgers, USF, Villanova, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Louisville and DePaul.
"There are so many teams we have never played in the BIG EAST and the conference is tough," said head coach Steve Adlard. "Every game is going to mean something."
Georgetown and Seton Hall landed a pair of players as player-of-the-year selections. GU's Ricky Schramm shared the offensive player award with Sacha Kljestan of Seton Hall. Jeff Curtain of Georgetown was the defensive player-of-the-year. SHU's Boris Pardo was selected as the goalkeeper-of-the-year.
Marquette opens up its 2005 season on Friday, Sept. 2 at Ohio State. It opens up at home on Friday, Sept. 9 against Drake. MU begins BIG EAST play on Friday, Sept. 16 at Syracuse.
