Golden Eagles Compete at Meyo Invite, Akron Open

The Marquette men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed at the Meyo Invite at Notre Dame and the Akron Open this past weekend.
The Golden Eagles had several outstanding performances at the Meyo Invite - one of the nation's top indoor meets. Michaela Courtney was fourth in the mile, clocking a time of 4:48.58. She was followed by teammate Cassie Peller in fifth, in a time of 4:49.57.
For the men, Jon Shaffer was 16th in the 800m, running a time of 1:54.23. David Henderson clocked a time of 8:28.15 in the 3,000m while teammate Jeremy Williams finished in 8:38.46. Kyle Saginus clocked 14:55.59 in the 5,000m run.

At the Akron Open, Kristina Malin finished second in her heat of the 800m, recording a time of 2:16.83. Terri Emond (17:43.01) and Allison Sauer (17:44.14) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 5,000m run.
Lana Rabas was tied for second in her flight of the high jump, with a leap of 5'1" (1.55m). In the pole vault, Carrie Schmid and Kristin Stoniecki each tied for seventh, with a vault of 11'0 1.4" (3.36m). Christina Flowers finished seventh in the long jump (5.06m,16'7 1/4").
Jessica Ehlen was fifth in flight two of the shot put (39'11 1.2", 12.18m) while Emily Leklem was fifth in flight four (46'0 1/2", 14.03m). Ehlen (135'0", 41.14m) and Audra Ketelsen (128'0", 39.02m) were seventh and eighth in the discus. Ehlen was also third in her flight of the weight throw (55'1 1/2", 16.80m).

On the men's side, the 4x400m relay team of Raymond Bratchett, Antonio Jones, Matt Piekarski, and Loren Wagner finished fourth in their section, with a time of 3:21.62. Bratchett was third in the high jump, with a leap of 6'9 3/4" while Zach Pawlowski was third in his flight of the pole vault (15'0", 4.57m). TOm Sage (19'1 1/4", 5.82m) and Adeola Giwa (18'11 3/4", 5.78m) were seventh and eighth in the long jump. Jeff Kluge won his flight of the shot put, with a heave of 46'11" (14.30m). Michael Bodecker was fifth in the discus (147'2", 44.86m) while Damien Ainisko was seventh (142'2", 43.33m) and Kluge eighth (140'4", 42.78m). Damian Anisko was third in flight three of the weight throw (53'5 3/4", 16.30m) and Bodecker was sixth (45'11 1/4", 14.00m).
