Flexibility Training Overview
4/25/2006 12:00:00 AM | General
Flexibility is a key component in athletic preparation and performance. Flexibility training is a means of maintaining and increasing joint flexibility. Joint flexibility or range of motion (ROM), directly influences body movement and limb endpoint positions. Limitations in range of motion are often associated with higher injury rates and sub-maximal sport performance. Potential benefits of flexibility training include:
(1) increased exercise ROM,
(2) decreased chance and/or severity of injury,
(3) enhanced proprioceptive and kinesthetic awareness, and
(4) increased power output.
