Marquette's annual athletics banquet was held Sunday night at Discovery World
MILWAUKEE — The Marquette University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics hosted its annual Blue & Golden Globes banquet on Sunday evening at Discovery World in downtown Milwaukee.
The event was highlighted by the announcement of the Ralph H. Metcalfe Senior Awards, the President's Award presented by Dr. Kimo Ah Yun, and honors selected by Marquette's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Women's lacrosse senior midfielder Hanna Bodner received both the President's Award and the Metcalfe Senior Female Athletic Award. The 2025 BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year and unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selection also earned IWLCA All-Region honors. Over her career, Bodner surpassed 100 career points and 100 career draw controls, establishing herself as one of the conference's most consistent performers.
Men's lacrosse senior Peter Detwiler was named the Metcalfe Senior Male Athletic Award recipient. A two-time team captain, he anchored Marquette's defense as one of the nation's top short-stick defensive midfielders. Detwiler earned USA Lacrosse All-America Honorable Mention recognition, becoming just the second player at his position in program history to receive the honor, in addition to All-BIG EAST Second Team accolades. He will continue his career professionally in the Premier Lacrosse League with the Carolina Chaos.
The women's soccer program earned the Magis Spirit Cup, which recognizes the team that demonstrates excellence in academics, community service, and leadership across campus and within the department.
Women's soccer seniors Erin O'Keefe and Molly Keiper were named recipients of the Metcalfe Senior Female Leadership & Service Award. O'Keefe, a Team IMPACT fellow and Marquette peer mentor, organized service events and connected student-athletes with community engagement opportunities, including work with the Rescue Mission, Milwaukee Riverkeepers, the Red Cross, and local animal rescues. She also organized a Team IMPACT 5K.
Keiper served as SAAC president for the past two years and represented student-athletes as the athletics representative to the Board of Trustees. She also attended the BIG EAST Mental Health Summit and contributed through MU Creatives. Her community involvement included participation in the Rescue Mission, campus cleanups, MU Day Care, and Shopping with the Golden Eagles.
Men's track & field senior sprinter Justin Juniel received the Metcalfe Senior Male Leadership & Service Award. Juniel contributed to the campus and local community through his work with Legal Action of Milwaukee and his advocacy efforts. He further developed his leadership through participation in the Civil Rights Pilgrimage and the Indigenous Solidarity Trip. An active member of SAAC and the department's DEI committee, Juniel is recognized for his leadership and service.
The Metcalfe Senior Academic Awards were presented to Peter Detwiler (men's lacrosse), Cate Downs (women's soccer), and Sylvia Fochesato (women's track & field).
Detwiler, a finance major in the AIM program, holds a 3.9 cumulative GPA. Following graduation, he will join DT Investment Partners as a financial advisor while continuing his professional lacrosse career.
Downs completed her undergraduate degree with a 4.0 GPA and is expected to earn her MBA with a perfect GPA. She will remain at Marquette through December to complete her degree and will serve as a graduate assistant in the College of Business.
Fochesato will graduate with a degree in psychology and a minor in sports communication, posting a 4.0 GPA. She will attend the University of Miami in the fall to pursue a law degree in its sports law program.
