Manual Resistance Side (Lateral) Raise
4/28/2006 12:00:00āÆAM | General
| Muscles Used | Primary: anterior deltoid |
| Starting Position | Standing upright, arms straight, thumbs points down, and not touching the sides of the body. |
| Description | Leading with the elbows, raise the arms upward and outward until they are slightly higher that parallel to the floor, pause momentarily for one second at the midrange, then lower the arms to the starting position. |
| Spotting | Stand behind the lifter and apply resistance at the top of the wrists. |
| Points To Emphasize | 1. The lifter's hands should not be clenched and the palms should face the floor throughout the exercise. 2. Turning the hands upward will place undue strain on the elbow. |
