MILWAUKEE - Senior Christy Zwolski was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll announced Monday by league officials. This is Zwolski's first recognition by the conference of the season.
Zwolski earned the honor for her play last weekend helping Marquette to defeat St. John's, 1-0, and tie Syracuse, 0-0, in double overtime. She scored the game-winning goal to propel the Golden Eagles over the Redstorm.
"She has taken a leadership role off and on the field and has become more of an aggressive attacker towards the goal because of it. Her defense in the last two games was tremendous. By playing defense she forces defenders to turn the ball over in her favor. If she keeps that up the sky is the limit," said associate head coach Frank Pelaez.
For the season, Zwolski is second on the team with 13 points on five goals and three assists. Her five goals rank ninth in the conference, while her 13 points stand 10th overall in the league.
The Golden Eagles will begin a four-game road trip to close out the regular season Friday, Oct. 19, when they travel to Louisville to play the Cardinals at 6 p.m. CT.
