Milwaukee - The Marquette University men's soccer team wraps up the road portion of its 2007 campaign Saturday night at No. 1 Connecticut (13-2-1, 6-2-1 BIG EAST) in a BIG EAST Conference Blue Division matchup.
The opening whistle is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
The Golden Eagles are facing a must-win situation should the team hope to advance to the league tournament in mid-November. MU, which owns four points in league play, must pick up at least six more points before the end of the regular season in order to place itself among the top six programs in the division.
"We are playing the top ranked team in the country with the intent of posting the biggest upset of the year and doing some damage in the standings," head coach Louis Bennett said. "We are really looking forward to playing UConn and have nothing to lose, which probably keeps them from looking forward to playing Marquette."
Marquette is coming off a 0-0 draw versus No. 19 West Virginia on Wednesday night at Valley Fields. MU netminder Matt Pyzdrowski made five saves on the night to help preserve the shutout, his first of the season.
The Huskies are 6-1-1 in their last eight outings and currently own second place in the Blue Division. UConn defeated the Golden Eagles 1-0 in 2006.
"Connecticut is a very well disciplined team that will hold the ball offensively and wait for an opportunity," Bennett said. "We have to match that discipline defensively and remain patient."
