MILWAUKEE - Senior goalkeeper Laura Boyer was honored for her work and dedication in the classroom as well as on the playing field Tuesday as she was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Third Team.
"Being named a Academic All American is a wonderful honor for Laura, Marquette University and our program," said head coach Markus Roeders. "She has excelled on the field, in the classroom, in the community and as a student leader. Without a doubt, Laura is among the top student-athletes that have come through our program over the years. Not only is she a great student and player, but a wonderful person who always had the best interest of the team in mind and made everybody around her better."
Boyer, a third team All-BIG EAST selection, allowed just one goal through the first 10 matches of the season, totaled a career best nine shutouts and made 61 saves. Boyer's nine shutouts rank fourth in the league and her 0.89 goals against average is eighth in the conference.
Boyer is a finance major with an overall grade-point average of 3.72. She ranks third all-time on Marquette's saves list with 242 and second all-time with 23 shutouts. Boyer earned First Team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine All-District Five First Team Honors consecutive seasons in 2006 and 2007.
