Golden Eagles Set to Play Gonzaga

The Marquette women's basketball team will look to bounce back from a 57-56 loss at Oregon when they take on Gonzaga on Friday, Nov. 20, at McCarthey Arena in Spokane, Wash. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. CT. Live stats will be available on www.gomarquette.com. Live video streaming will be available through Gonzaga's website www.gozags.com.
The game against the Bulldogs will close out Marquette' s two-game road swing in the Pacific Northwest. The Golden Eagles will return home to host William & Mary on Monday, Nov. 26, at the Al McGuire Center at 7 p.m.
Marquette (2-1), who continues to receive votes in both the Associated Press Poll and ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, was led by senior Svetlana Kovalenko in its last out. Kovalenko scored a career-high 20 points at Oregon. She is the Golden Eagles' leading rebounder and second leading scorer with 8.0 boards and 11.7 points per game.
Gonzaga (3-0), an NCAA Tournament participant from a season ago, returns three starters from that team including reigning West Coast Conference Player of the Week Heather Bowman. Bowman leads the Bulldogs with 21.7 ppg and 10.3 rpg.
Offensively, Gonzaga has averaged 90.3 points while holding its opponents to 60.3 points in its first three games. The Golden Eagles, on the other hand, has scored an average of 68.3 points over three contests.
It will be the second all-time meeting between Marquette and Gonzaga. They two teams played each other for the first time in Milwaukee last season with the Golden Eagles coming away the victor, 74-60.
