MILWAUKEE - With a team cumulative grade point average of 3.38 for the 2006-07 academic year, the Marquette women's soccer team was named a NSCAA College Team Academic Award Winner. It is the 12th consecutive season the Golden Eagles have earned the honor.
Marquette is among the top 30 teams in Division I who received the honor.
"Congratulations to our players for the outstanding job they do in the classroom," said head coach Markus Roeders. "We are very proud of their excellence in the classroom, on the field and in the community. A team grade point average of 3.38 speaks volumes for our players' dedication to get an education and prepare themselves for their lives as Marquette graduates."
For the season, this is the fourth overall academic award the Golden Eagles have received. Senior goalkeeper Laura Boyer was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Third Team. Boyer and fellow classmate Christy Zwolski each earned First Team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine All-District Five First Team Honors.
