MILWAUKEE -
The Marquette women's basketball team will open a three-game homestand on Saturday when it hosts Indiana State at the Al McGuire Center for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
Saturday is Family Fun Day. Get a game ticket, hot dog and soda all for only $4. Following the game, the team will be signing post-game autographs on the court. For ticket information call (414) 288-GOMU.
The Golden Eagles (4-3) will look to bounce back from a 74-55 loss at Kansas when the Sycamores (5-3) pay a visit to Al McGuire Court. It will be only the second all-time meeting between the two teams, and first as NCAA Division I foes. The two teams last met on Dec. 11, 1981, in Terre Haute, Ind., with Indiana State taking the victory, 70-47.
Junior Krystal Ellis continues to lead the Golden Eagles with 20.5 ppg. She gave MU 18 points and recorded her 25th consecutive game of double-figure scoring dating back to last season, at Kansas.
Freshman Tatiyiana McMorris made the most of her minutes at Kansas posting a collegiate-high 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting. She also converted a pair of free throws and grabbed two steals in 18 minutes of action in the second half.
Ninth year head coach Jim Wiedie brings a veteran squad with four starters and 10 letterwinners from a season ago that finished 19-11 overall. Angela Phillips leads the Sycamores with 14.5 points per game. Preseason All-Missouri Valley selection Laura Rudolphi is second on the team in scoring with 13.0 ppg. Kelsey Luna rounds out Indiana State's trio in double figures with 12.1 ppg.
The Sycamores, out of the Missouri Valley Conference, opened the season 3-0, including a overtime win against then-No. 17 Vanderbilt, but have staggered since by dropping three of their last five contests.
