Robinson Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

MILWAUKEE - Freshman guard Angel Robinson and junior center Kelly Lam were honored by the BIG EAST Conference this week as Robinson was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week and Lam was selected to the honor roll. It is the fourth time this season a Marquette student-athlete has been awarded weekly league honors.
One of three mainstays in the starting line-up this season, Robinson scored a collegiate-high 13 points in the Golden Eagles' 83-79 win over Indiana State. In her 21 minutes of action, Robinson made 6-10 attempts from the floor, added four rebounds, six assists and two steals. It was the fourth game this season for Robinson to dish five or more assists.
It is the third freshman of the week nod for Marquette since its tenure in the BIG EAST began.

In her first start of the season, second of her career, Lam was one of four Golden Eagles to score in double figures against Indiana State. Lam's career high 17-point total came from her accuracy from the floor as she made 7-of-8 attempts. It was her third time of her career to score 10 or more points. She also added four rebounds, a career-high four assists and two blocks.
It is Lam's first ever league honor roll selection, second for the team this season.
The Golden Eagles will play their second to last home game of the 2007 calendar year tonight against Northwestern. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., at the Al McGuire Center.
