MU to Host Arkansas - Pine Bluff Friday at Noon

The Marquette women's basketball team will look to bounce back from its heartbreaking two-point loss to Northwestern Friday, Dec. 21, when Arkansas - Pine Bluff makes a visit to Marquette at Noon. The Golden Eagles aim for their 50th win at The Al McGuire Center since the building opened on Jan. 4, 2004. Marquette is 49-8 all-time in "The Al."

Friday is dollar day. Tickets, hot dogs, soda and candy are only $1. It's also Christmas at "The Al," and Santa will be here. All fans are encouraged to take pictures with jolly old St. Nick. Presents will be given out all game long.
In their last time out, the Golden Eagles (5-4) got 30 points and 10 boards from junior Krystal Ellis, but couldn't pull off the win over Northwestern. Ellis leads Marquette with 22.2 points per game.
Senior Svetlana Kovanlenko continues to dominate on the glass posting a team best 9.0 rebounds per game, which also ranks tied for fifth in the BIG EAST and 89th in the nation. She gave the Golden Eagles a career-high 13 rebounds against Northwestern and has pulled down 10 or more boards on five occasions this season.
The Lady Lions (1-7) of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) enter Friday's contest with just one win on the season. Ark.-Pine Bluff's lone win of the season came at home against Central Arkansas, 75-67. The Lady Lions have lost all their seven games away from home. Delores Hughley leads Ark.-Pine Bluff with 11.5 ppg.
