Colaizzi Named to Top 100 Freshman List

MILWAUKEE - Marquette freshman Anthony Colaizzi was named to the College Soccer News Top 100 Freshman list, the website announced.
Colaizzi earned NSCAA All-America status and Illinois State Player of the Year honors after his four-year career playing for Jim McNamara at Warren Township High School. He scored 25 goals and 20 assists as a senior and was the Chicago Sun Times and Pioneer Press player of the year. He was also selected first team all-state by the Chicago Tribune and was an all-area selection by the Daily Herald. He set his school record with 70 points in his senior season, guiding the team to a 26-3 record and a spot in the state championship game.
Colaizzi is part of the Marquette men's soccer team which is gearing up for the beginning of the season. The team will begin practice on Wednesday, August 15. Fan Fest 2007 will be held on Thursday, August 16 and will offer Marquette soccer fans a chance to be interactive with the team and see the squad in action for the first time in an intra-squad scrimmage.
