Head coach Terri Mitchell
Opening Statement...
"We had a total team effort today. We played with heart and we played extremely hard. We knew coming in this was going to be a difficult place to play and with Oakland winning its last four games, we knew it was not going to be easy to get a win here. It was great to see our players come out with enthusiasm to get back on the court after a long Christmas break. They came out prepared and ready to win."
On Angel Robinson's performanceââ'¬Â¦
"Angel had an amazing game. The team knew she was the hot shooter today and was very unselfish. They found her and set screens for her. That is why she had success. But overall, it was our defense, which created our offense. We had some big defensive stops and that was a big key to this win."
On coming back after a long break...
"We were all business at practice for the last two days. We came back and worked extremely hard. We know we are going to experience losses, but it is what you take from that loss, what you learn and how you grow from it is what matters. Those couple of practices we had before this game were not easy. But, we took that intensity we had from practice and transferred it to the court today. This was just one step. Now we have to turn our attention to UWM, who is playing well but came out on the losing end in very close games. They are always tough and we are very familiar opponents. All that we have done in the non-conference is to get ready for the BIG EAST. We need to keep fighting and continue to improve in order to have success."
On her 33-point performanceââ'¬Â¦
"I was off early this morning in shoot around, so I didn't think I was going to have the type of game I had. But after I made a couple, I just kept shooting with confidence. The coaches kept telling me to shoot. My teammates found me and we all worked hard to get this win on both ends of the court.
After getting in four trouble early in the second half...
"Mentally it didn't affect me. I knew I had to just kept my energy up on the bench for my teammates. We played team ball and took what the coaches taught us in the last few practices and came out and won a ball game."
