MILWAUKEE - With a team cumulative grade point average of 3.37 for the 2007-08 academic year, the Marquette women's soccer team was named a NSCAA College Team Academic Award Winner. It is the 13th consecutive season the Golden Eagles have earned the honor.
Marquette is among the top 20 teams in Division I that received the honor.
"We are very proud of our ladies and how they continue to excel in the classroom, on the field and in the community," said head coach Markus Roeders. "They compete at an elite level on the field and in the classroom. This group of players keeps building on our tradition of excellence."
For the season, this is the second overall academic award the Golden Eagles have received. Junior defender Katie Miller earned First Team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine All-District Five First Team Honors. Following the 2007-08 academic year, 22 members of the women's soccer team were named BIG EAST Academic All-Stars.
