The Marquette University men's tennis team (4-2) continues its season-long homestand this weekend at the Helfaer Tennis & Recreation Center when the squad hosts Xavier and Georgetown.
The Golden Eagles, who are currently 4-0 at home thanks to four 7-0 victories, host the Musketeers at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon before welcoming the Hoyas to Milwaukee at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
"It's going to be a challenging weekend, but we have had a good week of practice and I think the guys are ready," head coach Steve Rodecap said. "Anytime you have a conference opponent visiting your home court it's a good opportunity."
Xavier (2-3) has been off since defeating Buffalo 5-2 on Jan. 27 in non-conference action and features two-time Atlantic-10 Player of the Week Ra'ees Ismail. The junior is 13-5 in singles action on the year, including a 4-1 mark in dual match action.
Georgetown (0-4), which fell to the Golden Eagles in the 2007 BIG EAST Conference Championship, have dropped three matches this season to nationally ranked opponents. The Hoyas will face fellow league member DePaul on Saturday afternoon before heading to Milwaukee.
Seven of the nine Marquette players to see action this season own winning singles records, led by sophomore Dusan Medan's mark of 18-6. Classmate Mark Rutherford is 15-6 overall, including a perfect 5-0 mark in dual competition. Through six outings, MU's doubles tandems have posted a combined mark of 13-5.
