Golden Eagles Take on Elite Competition at Meyo Invitational

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette men's and women's track and field teams will head to the highly competitive 21st annual Meyo Invitational on Friday, Feb. 8 and Saturday, Feb. 9. The meet is hosted by Notre Dame and will be held in the Loftus Sports Center at Notre Dame, Ind.
The Meyo Invitational is one of the premier track and field meets in the nation with many student-athletes looking for national qualifying marks and is the host of several national leading performers.
"The Meyo Invitational is a world class meet with an elite level of competition," assistant coach Mike Nelson said. "We are trying to have more athletes hit BIG EAST qualifying marks and improve upon those that have already been set."
The meet will feature the "Meyo Mile" in which senior Cassie Peller will be trying to run a national qualifying time.
The Golden Eagles have qualified over 20 athletes qualify for the 2008 BIG EAST Indoor Championships and will look to add more before the meet in two weeks.
MU is also sending competitors to the Hawk Invitational hosted by UW-Whitewater on Friday, Feb. 8.
