MILWAUKEE - Marquette University men's soccer head coach Louis Bennett has announced that forward Greg Pignataro has signed an acceptance of admission and will join the Golden Eagles' 2008 recruiting class.
"First and foremost, Greg is a student-athlete who will be well-suited for Marquette University," said Bennett. "He is bright and ambitious and has played a high level of soccer. He's another player we found at our High School Elite Camp, which has been a great success. I'm excited that we are now attracting well-rounded players like Greg. The quicker he can adjust to college life and our way of playing, the better equipped he'll be to contribute."
Pignataro, who plays club soccer with the Chicago Magic North, attends Harry D. Jacobs High School in Algonquin, Ill., where he was a team captain and three-year starter for the Golden Eagles. He also helped Jacobs High School make a remarkable late-season run this past season that culminated in a regional championship.
As a senior, Pignataro claimed All-Fox Valley Conference honors for the second straight year and was named to the Northwest Herald All-Area Second Team. In 2005, Pignataro was selected as captain of the Chicago City Select Tour team that finished 4-1 during a playing tour in Scotland.
