Marquette Set To Face No. 9/7 Louisville

MILWAUKEE -- Marquette continues BIG EAST men's soccer action Sunday when it hosts No. 9/7 Louisville at Valley Fields. Kick off is set for 2:05 p.m., following the Golden Eagles women's soccer match vs. Pittsburgh at noon.
Marquette Radio (WMUR) will call the action. Live streaming audio can be heard at marquetteradio.mu.edu. Fans will receive $1 off the price of admission by donating a new or gently used children's book at the gate. Collected books will benefit the Next Door Foundation's "Book for Kids" campaign.
Louisville (5-1-1, 2-1-0 BIG EAST), will be the third top-10 opponent Marquette will face this season. The Cardinals suffered their first loss of the season Friday with a 4-0 setback at Notre Dame.
Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles (2-4-1, 1-1-1) picked up three points in conference play with Friday's 1-0 win over Cincinnati. Sophomore midfielder Calum Mallace netted the game-winner off of a free kick with five seconds remaining in double-overtime.

KEY STORYLINES
Sunday's matinee comes on the heels of the Golden Eagles' second win of the season, a 1-0 double overtime victory over Cincinnati, in which MU improved to 2-2 this season on its home pitch. No. 9/7 Louisville is coming off a 4-0 loss Friday at Notre Dame. The Cardinals are the third top-10 team that MU will have faced in its last five games. Five of the seven opponents MU has played this season have been ranked in the top 25, or receiving votes, in the NSCAA/adidas poll.
SERIES HISTORY
Marquette owns a 8-4-2 record in its all-time series against Louisville. The Cardinals have out-scored MU by a margin of 7-1 in the teams' previous three meetings. MU escaped Louisville with a 1-1 draw last season, finishing the match with nine players on the field due to a pair of red cards received during regulation.
LAST TIME OUT
Marquette sophomore Calum Mallace tallied his second goal of the season off of a direct free kick in the 110th minute to give MU a 1-0 victory over Cincinnati in double overtime Friday night at Valley Fields. Mallace's game-winner came with just five seconds remaining in extra time and extended MU's winning streak over the Bearcats to three straight games.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Louisville had posted five shutouts in its first six games before falling 4-0 at Notre Dame on Friday. While their defense has been among the best in the nation, the Cardinals entered this weekend's BIG EAST matches tied for 10th in NCAA Division I in scoring offense with 15 goals scored. Ten different players have scored for the Cardinals, led by Freddie Braun and Colin Rolfe with three goals apiece. Goalkeeper Andre Boudreaux has stopped 16 shots in seven matches and boasts a goals against average of 0.69.
MARQETTE AGAINST NATIONALLY RANKED TEAMS
Marquette will host No. 9/7 Louisville this Sunday,?Sept. 27 at Valley Fields. The Cardinals will be the third top-10 team the MU will have played in its last five games. The Golden Eagles are still looking for its first win over a national ranked team under head coach Louis Bennett with 13 previous chances. Marquette escaped No. 20 Louisville with a 1-1 draw last season. This past weekend, the Golden Eagles settled for a 1-1 tie at No. 5/9 USF.

During the month of September the Golden Eagles will team up with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer squad to collect books during all home matches. Fans will receive $1 off the price of admission by donating a new or gently used children's book the gate. All books collected will benefit the Next Door Foundation's "Books for Kids" program.
