Mallace Earns Second Team All-BIG EAST Honors

MILWAUKEE -- Marquette University junior midfielder Calum Mallace was named Second Team All-BIG EAST Conference the league announced Thursday.

Mallace led the Golden Eagles with 18 points this season, which came on a team high six goals and six assists. It's the most points scored by an MU player in a single season since Chris Lee tallied 23 points in 2004. Mallace leads the BIG EAST in shots (71) and was one of three MU players to appear in all 19 matches.

Marquette finished the season with an overall record of 7-8-4 (3-4-2 BIG EAST). The Golden Eagles made their first-ever appearance in the BIG EAST quarterfinals after a 3-1 upset at St. John's in the opening round of the conference tournament. Mallace assisted on MU's first goal and scored in the 80th minute to secure the victory over the Red Storm.

The Torphichen, Scotland, native was credited with three game-winning goals in 2010, notching the decisive tally in wins over Florida Gulf Coast, Wisconsin and Syracuse. His seven career game-winners ranks fourth all-time at MU.

Mallace is MU's active career leader in points (27), goals (10), shots (147) and shots on goal (57). He is the first MU player to garner BIG EAST postseason accolades since the Golden Eagles joined the league in 2005.
