Marquette Falls to Wisconsin, 4-3

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team fell to Wisconsin, 4-3, Sunday afternoon at Helfaer Tennis Stadium. The loss snaps MU's four-match win streak and is the first home loss for the Golden Eagles on the campaign.
Wisconsin improves to 7-2 with the win, while Marquette drops to 7-2.
The Badgers managed to capture the opening doubles point, picking up wins at the No. 1 and 2 spots, while Ali Dawson and and Kristina Radan earned Marquette's lone doubles victory, 8-3, at the No. 3 spot.
After surrendering the opening point, the Golden Eagles came out strong in singles play. Seniors Olga Fischer and Gillian Hush each picked up singles wins at the No. 1 and 2 positions, respectively. Hush remained perfect in singles play on the season (9-0), topping Wisconsin's Berner, 7-6, 7-6. Rocio Diaz helped to keep the contest close, giving MU its third point of the match with a 6-4, 1-6, 7-6, win at No. 5 singles.
Wisconsin eventually captured the match with singles victories at the No. 3, 4 and 6 positions.
Marquette will conclude it six-match homestand on Friday, March 2, when it welcomes BIG EAST foe Rutgers to Helfaer Tennis Stadium at 1 p.m.
