MILWAUKEE--After suffering a close, 91-85 loss to DePaul, the Marquette Golden Eagles return home and look to break their first two game losing stretch of the season when they take on Georgetown on Saturday Feb. 1, 2014 at 4 p.m. Central time.
Both junior Cristina Bigica and sophomore Chelsie Butler scored career highs against DePaul, combining for 34 points on the night. Bigica also grabbed a career-best nine rebounds for Marquette (13-6, 4-4 BIG EAST). Senior Katherine Plouffe recorded her eighth double double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. She is second in the BIG EAST with an 18.3 points per game average.
Georgetown (7-14, 1-8 BIG EAST) comes to Milwaukee after a ten point loss to Villanova, 59-49. Freshman center Natalie Butler had a double double and led the Hoyas' scoring attack with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Butler leads the league in rebounds with 13.1 per game.
The two Jesuit schools have faced off nine times, with Marquette leading 8-1. Earlier this season, the meeting between the two teams resulted in an OT thriller, with sophomore Brooklyn Pumroy securing the win for MU down the stretch hitting two key three throws at McDonough Arena.
Live stats and a live stream will be available on GoMarquette.com with Kyle Dlaby and Ciara Jones on the call.
Saturday marks the start of a three-game homestand and a stretch of five home games in February.
