
MU Falls 5-2 at Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich.--The Marquette women's tennis squad (2-2) dropped a 5-2 decision at Western Michigan (5-2) on Sunday afternoon, despite fighting hard in singles matches.
The Golden Eagles' two points came in singles play as sophomore Erin Gebes defeated Kathleen Hawkins, 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 2 court, while junior Vanessa Foltinger bested Kelsey King in the No. 4 position, 6-2, 7-5. Classmate Ana Pimienta played a tough match at No. 1 singles, narrowly falling, 2-6, 6-4, 10-12.
MU was swept in doubles play, which opened the match.
The Golden Eagles will return home to the Helfaer Tennis Stadium for a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 15 beginning with Iowa at 9 a.m. Central time and will conclude against Western Illinois at 5 p.m.
