
Golden Eagles Dominate UIC 6-1

MILWAUKEE- The Marquette University women's tennis team (3-0) continued its winning ways defeating UIC, 6-1 at Helfaer Stadium on Saturday morning.
No. 1 doubles senior Ana Pimienta and junior Erin Gebes dominated the Flames 6-1. The duo, undefeated this season (3-0) dueled Jackie Altansarnai and Oana Manole on court one. Diana Tokar and Paula Tormos Sanchez teamed at No. 3 doubles for a 6-2 victory, helping to clinch the doubles point.
Vanessa Foltinger went head to head with Biana Zuzu, who won the last two sets (6-4, 5-7, 10-5) on the No. 5 court, while Gebes' singles match victory at No. 2 (6-3, 6-3) was the deciding point giving MU the win.
On court one in singles Pimienta faced Keti Mebuke traded the first two of the match. In the third set, Pimienta trailed 3-1 but stormed back to claim 6-4 decision. The Golden Eagles went 5-1 on the day in singles, with Foltinger the only loss.
Marquette finishes the doubleheader when they take on Green Bay Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. Central time at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
