
MU Falls to Wisconsin, 5-2

MILWAUKEE--The Marquette women's tennis squad dropped its first contest of the season on Sunday, as the squad fell, 5-2, to rival Wisconsin at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
The Golden Eagles (3-1) earned points in singles play as Paula Tormos Sanchez continued her stellar start to the dual match season with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 4 position. The sophomore is 4-0 this season in singles.
Also earning a point for MU was senior Aleeza Kanner who played a tough match at the No. 5 position and pulled away with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 victory. Kanner is also a perfect 4-0 in singles action this season.
Wisconsin set the tone for the match sweeping the doubles matches to get on the board first.
Marquette will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 6 against Eastern Michigan, in Iowa City. The match is slated to begin at 1 p.m. Central time.
