MILWAUKEE - Guards Markus Howard and Andrew Rowsey each tallied season-best point totals as Marquette defeated Western Carolina, 90-44, on Wednesday evening at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
The Golden Eagles (5-2) got off to another hot start by shooting 72.4 percent (21-of-29) in the opening half to build a 56-18 edge at the intermission. Marquette hit eight of its 11 shots from deep in the first half and a total of 13 3-pointers in the game, including four each from Howard and Rowsey.
Howard, making his third-straight start, scored 14 of his 17 points during the first half, while Rowsey scored 19 of his 21 over the final 20 minutes.
Haboubacar Mutombo scored a team-high 17 points for the Catamounts (2-5) who shot just 28 percent for the contest from the floor (14-of-50) and from deep (7-of-25).
The Golden Eagles will play their first true road game of the season on Sunday, Dec. 4 at Georgia in a contest slated for a 1 p.m. Central time tip on ESPNU.
