
Marquette Falls at Western Michigan, 4-3

KALAMAZOO, Mich.--The Marquette women's tennis team fought hard, but fell in a narrow, 4-3 decision at Western Michigan on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles (4-3) dropped the doubles point to open the match, but got on the board when senior Erin Gebes claimed a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the No. 2 position in singles action. Leoni Daems followed with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 bounce back victory at the No. 6 slot and Diana Tokar earned MU's third point at No. 4 singles with a tough battle that resulted in a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 victory. In the final match, which was the deciding point, Paula Tormos Sanchez battled through at No. 3 singles, but was unable to close out her frame and fell, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (7-4).
Marquette returns home to the comfort of the Helfaer Tennis Stadium next weekend and will host in-state foe, Green Bay on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 5:00 p.m. Central time.
