
Golden Eagles Hold off Creighton, 66-61

OMAHA, Neb. - Henry Ellenson notched his 16th double-double of the year with 22 points and 10 rebounds as Marquette held off Creighton, 66-61, in front of 17,412 fans at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha.
The Golden Eagles (18-10, 7-8 BIG EAST) have won a pair of games following a narrow defeat by Creighton in Milwaukee on Feb. 13. Jajuan Johnson and Duane Wilson added 15 and 14 points, respectively.
Fellow starters Luke Fischer and Haanif Cheatham were the only other Marquette players to score on Wednesday evening as Creighton's bench outscored MU's reserves, 29-0.
Maurice Watson, Jr., led the Bluejays (17-11, 8-7 BIG EAST) with 14 points and a game-high five assists. Fellow transfer Cole Huff posted 12 points off the bench, while centers Geoffrey Groselle and Zach Hanson each contributed nine points.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, Feb. 27 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center against No. 1 Villanova at 1 p.m. Central time. The game will be broadcast live on FOX.
