
Marquette Breezes Past Drake, 6-1

DES MOINES, IOWA - The Marquette Univesity women's tennis team took down Drake University, 6-1, Saturday morning at Roger Knapp Tennis Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Golden Eagles (6-4) dominated throughout, claiming the first six official matches of the dual, before the Bulldogs (6-7) registered their first point of the event. Marquette is now 2-3 in road matchups, while Drake falls to 4-2 in home contests.
Aleeza Kanner continued her unbeaten stretch during her respective dual season, by topping Drake's Joely Lomas (6-1, 6-4), to move to 7-0 in singles play this season.
With Silvia Ambrosio's singles win, all MU players now have a singles record of at least .500, leading to a cumulative 41-19 (.683) this season.
In doubles action, the team of Ambrosio and Erin Gebes continued to shine, taking their match, 6-2, and have now claimed 13 of 15 doubles decisions. Kanner teamed up with Leoni Daems, to win their doubles match, 6-3, moving each of their records to 2-0 on the day.
After concluding its extended road swing, Marquette will return to campus to host Illinois State, and BIG EAST foe Butler, on March 19 and 20, respectively.
