
Marquette Falters, 5-2 at No. 63 DePaul

CHICAGO--The Marquette University women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision on the road at No. 63 DePaul on Friday evening, which concludes dual match regular season.
The Golden Eagles (11-8) set the tone early by winning the doubles point as Silvia Ambrosio and Erin Gebes earned a 6-4 victory over No. 54 ranked Rebeca Mitrea and Yuliya Shupenia from DePaulon the No. 1 court, which improved their dual record to 11-4 this season. Diana Tokar and Paula Tormos Sanchez also earned a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles to sit at 9-2 this season in dual matches.
Ambrosio followed a stellar doubles performance with a dominating singles victory on the No. 1 court as she defeated No. 77 Shupenia, 6-2, 6-4 to give Marquette its second point.
The Golden Eagles battled through the tough competition as Gebes nearly pulled out a win at No. 2 singles, but fell, 6-2, 2-6, 3-6, while Tormos Sancchez also took her match into a third set before dropping a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 decision in No. 4.
Marquette will wait to learn its seeding in the 2016 BIG EAST Tournament which is slated to begin Thursday, April 28 in Cayce, S.C.
