Daniel Fernandez Named BIG EAST Player Of The Week

Senior Daniel Fernandez of the Marquette University men's tennis team has been named the BIG EAST Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Fernandez was 4-0 on the weekend in wins over league opponents Creighton and Xavier, playing No. 1 singles and doubles. He clinched the team victory with a straight-set win against Creighton and the doubles point versus Xavier with a 7-5 win after trailing 4-1. The Golden Eagles improve to 10-9 on the year.
The Aguascaliente, Mexico native is second on the team with 12 singles victories in 2015-16 and owns an 8-8 mark at the No. 1 spot. He is the first MU player to be honored this season.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, April 16 when they host Butler at 12 p.m. CT in the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
