Newest Golden Eagles sign National Letters of Intent
The early National Letter of Intent signing period opened Wednesday morning with a number of Marquette programs adding new student-athletes for the 2018-19 academic year. Among those signing announcements on Wednesday were Marquette legacies Joey Hauser for men's basketball and Chloe Marotta with women's basketball. Women's volleyball, men's golf and both lacrosse teams also added student-athletes.

Men's basketball begins regular season Friday night
Men's basketball opens its fourth season under head coach Steve Wojciechowski on Friday evening with an 8 p.m. contest against Mount St. Mary's at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. MU will have a short turnaround following that game with a Gavitt Tipoff Games matchup against No. 20/21 Purdue on Tuesday in Milwaukee.

Women's basketball trio named to national watch lists
Allazia Blockton, Natisha Hiedeman and Erika Davenport all earned mention on the watch list for national awards this week, ranking them among the top players at their position in the country. Blockton and Hiedeman were each named to the watch list for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, given to the nation's top shooting guard, while Davenport earned recognition for the Cheryl Miller Award, honoring the top small forward.

Cross country heads to NCAA Great Lakes Regional
After fifth- and fourth-place finishes at the 2017 BIG EAST Cross Country Championships, the men's and women's cross country squads head to Terra Haute, Indiana for Friday's NCAA Great Lakes Regional. The top two teams on each side at the regional as well as 13 at-large berths across the country qualify for the NCAA Championships. A total of 38 other individuals also have the chance to advance through the regionals with high enough finishes.

Marquette Athletics unveils strategic plan
The Marquette University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has developed a new five-year strategic plan, Vice President & Director of Athletics Bill Scholl announced Monday morning.
The strategic plan:
- Clearly defines the Department of Athletics' Mission, Vision, and Core Values;
- Ensures alignment with the University Mission, Vision, and Guiding Values;
- Identifies and creates specific goals and action steps to help Marquette Athletics achieve its commitment to the University, student-athletes, alumni, and supporters;
- Provides a management, planning and assessment tool for the President and the Vice President and Director of Athletics; and,
- Enables and fosters a collaborative working environment for students, faculty, coaches, and staff through common goals and initiatives.

Scholl and Dunker appear on Dr. Lovell's first podcast
Marquette University Vice President and Director of Athletics Bill Scholl and women's soccer player Madison Dunker (SAAC President) joined MU President Dr. Michael R. Lovell in his Marquette in Milwaukee podcast, which was released last week. Topics discussed included the City of Milwaukee, community service, mental health, facilities upgrades.

Women's basketball head coach Carolyn Kieger took time on Wednesday afternoon for a Facebook Live at Millioke in downtown Milwaukee to chat about the upcoming season for the nationally ranked Golden Eagles.
Women's lacrosse announces team captains
Marquette University women's lacrosse head coach Meredith Black and her staff have announced Allison Lane, Grace Gabriel and Logan Dobratz as team captains for the 2018 season.
