RANKINGS WATCH
After four events, Marquette has several favorable rankings.
In the latest Bushnell/Golfweek GCAA Top 25 Poll (Sept. 28), MU is receiving votes with the 10th-highest total among teams in that category. Last season, the Golden Eagles entered the poll's top 25 for the first time ever. The next poll will be released Oct. 19.
The Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, last updated on Oct. 10, have Marquette ranked 35th on the strength of a 6-5-0 head-to-head record against teams in the Top 50. The service rates Hunter Eichhorn at No. 66, and Oliver Farrell at No. 121. Â
Golfstat, whose rankings are used in NCAA team and individual selection, won't release its first team ranking until Oct. 17. Individually, Eichhorn is 146th and Farrell is 165th through Sept. 28 events, above the probable cut line for NCAA selection.
Among BIG EAST teams, the Golden Eagles have the lowest team score versus par (1.08), and second-lowest average round score at 289.08. Eichhorn is the league's low scorer at 71.25 (-0.75), while Farrell trails him by less than seven tenths of a stroke. Matt Murlick (eighth, 73.67) and Tyler Leach (11th, 73.92) are among the league's top-11 - MU is the only team with four starters ranked in the top-12.
