MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's soccer team concludes its 2018 campaign on Thursday evening at Valley Fields against Seton Hall and will celebrate its senior class with a special ceremony following the match.
The contest will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network through FOX Sports Go with Patrick Reed (play-by-play) and Jenny Fischer (sideline reporter) on the call. All students in attendance will receive free pizza.
Marquette will honor its seven-player senior class after the match as fifth-year seniors Ryley Bugay, Carrie Madden and Heather Handwork wrap up their careers in Blue & Gold alongside Leah Celarek, Sloane Carlson, Allison Jacobson and Jamie Kutey.
The Golden Eagles (3-11-3, 1-5-2 BIG EAST) played to a scoreless draw in their last match at Creighton on Sunday afternoon as junior goalkeeper Maddy Henry notched her fifth clean sheet of the season. Henry made four saves in the tie after posting 10 in Thursday's double overtime loss to No. 4 Georgetown on her way to BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll recognition.
Sophomore Kylie Sprecher posted her first goal of the season against the Hoyas, while freshman Katrina Wetherell notched the secondary assist, her team-best fourth of the year. Wetherell (1 goal, 4 assists) and classmate Alyssa Bombacino (3 goals) lead MU with six points this season.
Seton Hall (2-11-4, 0-8 BIG EAST) is winless in BIG EAST play and has posted just two goals since league play started on Sept. 22 against DePaul. All told, the Pirates have been outscored 27-7 in 2018, including a mark of 21-2 against BIG EAST foes.
Cassy Harrigan and Siobhan McGovern each posted a pair of goals during non-conference action to lead SHU in scoring.
Marquette is 6-1-1 all-time against the Pirates with the lone defeat coming in 2015 on a 1-0 loss as the Golden Eagles registered an own goal. The Golden Eagles claimed a 2-0 victory over SHU last season in South Orange, New Jersey as Carrie Madden scored in the 22nd minute and the Pirates added an own-goal midway through the second half. MU secured a home BIG EAST quarterfinal match with the triumph.

SPRECHER SCORES FIRST GOAL AFTER BREAKTHROUGH FRESHMAN CAMPAIGN
• Forward Kylie Sprecher had a standout campaign as a first-year player in 2017, leading the squad with six assists and adding three goals on her way to BIG EAST All-Freshman Team honors. Sprecher slid into the starting lineup in August at Louisville and produced immediately, posting points in four straight matches and earning a pair of BIG EAST Freshman of the Week accolades in the process. After suffering through a foot injury during the spring and summer, Sprecher posted the first point of her sophomore year on an Oct. 18 goal against No. 4 Georgetown.
• During the offseason, Sprecher trained with the United States Under-20 Women's National Team before joining the U-19 squad in early 2018.
HENRY STEPS UP AGAINST HIGHLY-RANKED OPPONENTS
• Junior goalkeeper Maddy Henry did her best to give the Golden Eagles a chance at upsetting No. 4 Georgetown on Oct. 18 with 10 saves against the Hoyas, including a PK stop in the 66th minute on Kyra Carusa. It was her second-highest save total of the season, ranking just behind the season-best 11 she posted against Colorado on Sept. 6. Henry also stepped up her play earlier this season against then-No. 12 Duke, No. 3 North Carolina in the Duke Nike Classic.
Â
• Henry earned mention on the BIG EAST's Weekly Honor Roll for her play against the Hoyas, marking her first accolade of the season after earning five weekly league honors as a sophomore in 2017.
Â
• Entering 2018, Henry ranked eighth all-time at Marquette in saves (186), minutes played (3,934:55) and goals against (1.17). She also sat second in saves per match (4.33), fifth in save percentage (.785) and sixth in career victories (25)

GOLDEN EAGLES EARN UNITED SOCCER COACHES TEAM AWARD
• Marquette was recognized by the United Soccer Coaches, formerly NSCAA, with the Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom for the 2017-18 academic year. The recognition marks the 21st time on the list for the Golden Eagles, who boasted a 3.61 cumulative grade point average last school year. The squad's success also earned 22 of its members BIG EAST All-Academic accolades for 2017-18.
