Marquette leads the all-time series with the Bulldogs 12-8, including a 3-0 sweep in Milwaukee earlier this season.
Xavier (9-16, 7-7 BIG EAST): Xavier will host DePaul on Friday night before facing the Golden Eagles. Currently the Musketeers are locked in a three-way tie for fourth place in the BIG EAST and the final BIG EAST Tournament spot and most recently picked up a 3-0 sweep over its travel partner, Butler last weekend. Senior Meredith Klare leads the squad defensively as she collects 4.50 digs per contest, while Audrey Adams hits at a .347 clip this season, ranking third in the league behind Jenna Rosenthal and Allie Barber.
Marquette owns a 13-9 advantage in the all-time series and has won the last three meetings, including a 3-0 sweep in Milwaukee earlier this season.
WHAT THE TEAM IS SAYING:
On Butler…
"The concern with Butler is always their ability to block balls and cause your hitters to be uncomfortable. Blocking can do that at any point, so Butler has the potential to make your offense sputter. They certainly have some players that can kill it and some athletic players that can score points. If they start blocking and scoring, you're going to be in trouble."
On Xavier…
"Xavier is probably the most improved team in the BIG EAST from game one until now. They are absolutely playing for a shot at the conference tournament, it is their final home game, senior day with five seniors and they are playing for a spot in the tournament, so without question we will see their best performance of the year. They are dangerous offensively and they run it as fast as they can and bring it back as fast as they can. If you're not ready for that speed it can be really disruptive. The goal is to keep enough pressure on them at all times so that they are not coming back fast."
