M Club Letterwinner Criteria
8/29/2024 1:28:00 PM | M Club
The following guidelines should be followed when awarding a letter to a Marquette University student-athlete. The M Club consists of all varsity letterwinners who have competed at Marquette. The primary mission of the M Club is to provide support for Marquette athletics – primarily for the student-athletes – and to encourage camaraderie among its alumni letterwinners.
Letterwinner Criteria
Special Situations
Letterwinner Criteria
- Based on season of athletic eligibility, not year in school
- Student-athlete must have appeared in at least one regular-season competition
- Student-athlete must be in good academic standing at the conclusion of the semester
- Student-athletes who do not meet the minimum criteria (injury, hardship, early graduation, etc.), may earn a letter based on a recommendation by his/her head coach and approval by the M Club Board of Directors
- Year 1 = sweater ($95)
- Year 2 = jacket ($135)
- Year 3 = frame ($115)
- Year 4 = ring (Men's - $165 - Women's - $155)
Special Situations
- Transfers – student-athletes will begin the awards program with the Year 1 gift, regardless of their first season of athletic eligibility (sophomores, juniors and seniors will select from sweater/jacket at conclusion of debut year at Marquette).
- Spirit Squad/Managers – members of the spirit squad and team managers (retroactive letters will be distributed) will be awarded the framed letter after concluding a third season of service and will be awarded the ring if active all four seasons.
- Cross Country/Track & Field – one award per year, looking at cross country first and followed by track and field competition. Student-athletes who compete in both will be recognized for earning letters with both teams, but will only claim one award per season.
