Hiedeman's 18 points leads four in double digits
MILWAUKEE—A streak was snapped on Saturday as the Marquette women's basketball team downed in-state foe Green Bay, 80-54. The Golden Eagles earned the victory over the Phoenix for the first time in six games dating back to 2011.
Senior Natisha Hiedeman led four Marquette (8-2) players in double digits with 18 points, seven boards, four assists and three steals. Junior Isabelle Spingola connected for a season-high 17 points, shooting 5-for-9 from beyond the arc, while Allazia Blockton added 13 points and Erika Davenport 10.
The Golden Eagles pushed the pace as they like to do grabbing 14 points from the fast break, while the 80 points were the most points Green Bay (4-5) has allowed this season.
Marquette cruised out to a 12-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game and never looked back taking a 44-19 lead into the half, the second fewest points the Golden Eagles have allowed at the half this season.
Spingola led the squad at the half with 12 points on 4-for-6 shooting from long range as Marquette combined to shoot 51.6 percent (16-for-31) from the floor in the first half, closing the day with a 50.9 percent mark connecting on 28-for-55, hitting double digits (10) from beyond-the-arc for the fifth time this season.
Marquette has a short turnaround and will be back in action on Monday, Dec. 17, hosting Binghamton. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT.
