The Golden Eagles return to Fiserv Forum to host No. 12/16 Wisconsin on Saturday
MILWAUKEE – Marquette held off UTEP, 76-69, on Tuesday evening at Fiserv Forum powered by 21 points from reigning BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week Markus Howard
Freshman Joey Hauser also chipped in 15 points for the Golden Eagles (7-2), who improved to 3-0 on their season-long seven game homestand.
UTEP freshman Jordan Lathon poured in a game-high 26 points for the Miners (3-5), who will have a 12-day break before welcoming UC Riverside to El Paso on Dec. 16 following final exams.
Marquette led 37-30 at the break after shooting 50.0 percent from the floor over the first 20 minutes of action. Howard posted a frame-high eight points, while Ed Morrow notched seven in eight minutes off the bench.
MU led by as many as 17 points early in the second half, but the Miners trimmed their deficit to just four points, 60-56, on a Lathon jumper with 6:56 remaining.
The Golden Eagles resume action on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. Central time against in-state rival No. 12/16 Wisconsin at Fiserv Forum. The game will air live on FOX.
