
No. 21 Marquette Sweeps Tulsa, 3-0 on Saturday

The Golden Eagles will play Illinois State tonight
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University volleyball team made quick work of Tulsa on Saturday, sweeping the Golden Hurricane in a 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-18) decision in its first of a two-match slate for the day.
Junior Allie Barber led Marquette (8-3) with 14 kills and just two errors for a .353 hitting percentage, while senior Anna Haak added nine kills and collected 10 digs.
Freshman Claire Mosher earned her first career start and dished out 19 assists, while sophomore Sarah Rose handed out 15 and collected nine digs. Classmate Martha Konovodoff tallied a match-high 24 digs in the short three-set match as the Golden Eagles combined for 63 digs as a team.
Marquette led the entire first set, though Tulsa challenged en route to a 25-23 win, but the Golden Eagles got off to a slow start in the second frame, trailing 4-1 early, but used a series of runs to overtake the Golden Hurricane. Tulsa held a 16-12 lead in the third set, but the Golden Eagles went on a 10-0 run with three service aces from sophomore Hope Werch and took control of the set, finishing on a 13-2 run to complete the sweep.
Tulsa was led by Rachel Moore and Emily Thorson with nine kills each, while Taylor Horsfall collected 20 digs.
The Golden Eagles have a short turnaround and will be back on the court at 7 p.m. CT when the squad takes on Illinois State.
