The Buffaloes scored two unanswered goals in their victory
MILWAUKEE  – Jaimie Kutey scored Marquette's first goal since Aug. 23 for the women's soccer team in a loss 2-1 to Colorado Thursday evening at Valley Fields.
Junior goalkeeper Maddy Henry made 11 saves in net for the Golden Eagles (0-5-1), who were out shot 20-15.
The Buffaloes scored a pair of late unanswered goals following Kutey's first of the season in the 47th minute. Senior midfielder Megan Massey scored the match winner in the 85th minute on a header from Kelsey Aaknes. CU's first tally was an MU own goal off a free kick from midfield served in by goalkeeper Jalen Tompkins.
Kutey got Marquette on the board right after the half with her first goal of the season in the 47th minute. Abby Hess sent the ball across the top of the box for Katrina Wetherell, who sent a cross back over towards Hess. Kutey was able to make contact near the right post to beat Jalen Tompkins back into the net.
Kutey's goal was her first since Sept. 17 of last season at Milwaukee. She also scored once as an All-BIG EAST Freshman Team selection in 2015. The senior also had a great look in the 49th minute of tonight's match that hit the crossbar.
The Golden Eagles will resume action on the road in their next match at Drake on Sunday afternoon at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines, Iowa.
